Very well done! Would you consider making a series of these that each detail a different facet? for example, one that shines light on negligible senescence technologies that could be brought to the fore, another that exhibits the sociopolitical benefits in specificity?
Hi,
I am interested in joining, however I would like to know if the Transhumanist party is against the current requirements of immunization and vaccination in the U.S. for children? One of the Party’s ideals mentions” supports significant life extension achieved through the progress of science and technology.” Is it safe to say that vaccines are categorized under this?
FYI I am not an antivaxer, just curious about the parties views on it.
Please advise, kindly thanks.
Well, on one hand, the Transhumanist Party supports bodily autonomy:
“Section LXIII: The United States Transhumanist Party opposes those specific cultural, religious, and social practices that violate individual rights and bodily autonomy.”
However, they also support the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child:
“Section LXII [Adopted by a vote of the members during June 18-24, 2017]: The U.S. Transhumanist Party supports efforts to ratify the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, and to uphold the Rights of the Child as prescribed therein.”
In Article 6 of this convention, it states that: “Children have the right to live. Governments should
ensure that children survive and develop healthily.”
So, with all that said, the Transhumanist Party is likely to find a balance between forced vaccinations and no vaccinations. Their likely solution would be to leave the decision up to trained medical professionals for each particular case.
I hope I answered your question. We would love to have you in the party! Have a nice day!
Casey,
Well put. I cannot speak from any medical expertise. However, as we are cautious and mindful of any and all existential risks, one is wise consider the anti-vax argument from the perspective of if the manufacturers of modern vaccines are cutting corners or using ingredients that may be harmful, not that the medical process of vaccinating against a disease causes other harm. I think THAT is a very valid concern that should be explored.
