U.S. Transhumanist Party General Discussion Thread for 2026

The purpose of this post is to facilitate member comments pertaining to transhumanism and the U.S. Transhumanist Party (USTP), which might not specifically fit the subjects of any other post or article on the USTP website. This is the place for members to offer suggestions or converse about any areas of emerging technologies and their political, moral, societal, cultural, and esthetic implications. The general discussion thread is also an ideal location to suggest or propose platform planks that may be considered for future platform voting, and/or bring our attention to emerging legislative and societal developments that may affect the course and impact of emerging technologies.
The USTP will endeavor to open one of these general comment threads per year. This comment thread pertains to the year of 2026.
Type in your comments below. Please note that, to protect against spambots, the first comment by any individual will be moderated. After passing moderation, a civil commenter should be able to post comments without future moderation – although we cannot guarantee that the technical aspect of this functionality will work as intended 100% of the time.

We need a policy to support making AI, and its necessary data centers, better for the environment. Something along the lines of:
The USTP supports making artificial intelligence, and its infrastructure, environmentally friendly and sustainable. Whether it be through building data centers with significantly lower power requirements, re-investing in and modernizing power infrastructure, other yet to be developed methods, or a combination of all the above we must forge a path that allows artificial intelligence to help humanity and our planet without hurting it in other ways.
Another piece to add: reducing waste from unwanted or unnecessary processes running automatically but unrequested.
In several of our policy planks (section L, for example) we use the language “he, she or its”. “Its” should be removed and replaced with their, they, or them depending on the context.
I propose we remove Peter Thiel and Elon Musk from our transhumanist timeline as their egregious behavior is detrimental to our cause and our party
The Transhumanist Timeline was not intended for public consumption yet. It has been a work in progress and requires considerable revision and addition before it should be publicized. Hence it was not linked to any public-facing page of the USTP website. Entries that referenced Peter Thiel and Elon Musk had not actually been gone over by any USTP editor. I have now looked them over and have removed all mentions of Peter Thiel and all but one mention of Elon Musk (pertaining to his founding of SpaceX in 2002, which did have significant implications for the progress of humanity in ways that transhumanists value). The other previous mentions of Thiel and Musk appeared to be tangential and not particularly relevant to the central transhumanism-related events described in the entries where they appeared.
The above is not intended to be a negative characterization of Thiel or Musk per se – but it should be noted that neither of them has used the term “transhumanist” to refer to their own views or convictions. The USTP is likely to publish objective overviews in the future, clarifying that neither Thiel nor Musk is a self-identified transhumanist. These will be factual overviews and are not intended as either positive or negative commentaries on either Thiel or Musk.
The Transhumanist Timeline remains a work in progress and will continue to require significant edits and expansions before it should be publicized in any form. The critics of this timeline made the (rather self-undermining!) mistake of giving it far more prominence than was intended at this time or even in the foreseeable future, in the absence of major additional edits.
Then why is it searchable on the webpage? Why is it even on the page at all? Others knew about it, which is how I found out about it. If continuing edits need to be made, perhaps include the rest of us in shaping it. I can see other changes that would be best to make
I propose we add Zionism and MAGA to Section XL of our platform
I propose the USTP create the position of Election Administrator to remove unilateral control of elections from the chairman, who is presently unwilling to hold policy votes, and share the responsibility with someone who has the time and willingness to organize votes. Voting is the most important means the membership has to have its voice heard and the USTP should do everything in its power to hear and accommodate that voice.
