The U.S. Transhumanist Party / Transhuman Party (USTP) had asked all of its declared candidates for its 2019 Presidential Primary to answer the same essential questions so as to inform the USTP membership of the candidates’ stances on key issues and provide each USTP member the opportunity to make an informed decision, including through comparisons of the candidates’ answers.

Discuss your background and why you think it would render you an effective President of the United States.

On November 26th, 1977 the Southern Television Broadcast in the UK was subject to a sophisticated broadcast interruption.  During that interruption an extraterrestrial named “Vrillon” gave a message of peace, advising that humanity take certain steps in order to ensure its health and future.  Minutes after this broadcast I was born in the United States of America – an extraterrestrial-human hybrid sent to serve as both recorder and transmitter of the human experience as a human being.

If elected, I would be the first such human-hybrid to occupy the office of President of the United States, and it would be a large step forward for other unaccounted-for hybrid beings, who are predominantly biologically human, and citizens of their respective states.  It would also make me the first actual trans-human (extraterrestrial who identifies as human) to hold the office.

Death is an outrage that your species can overcome.  I have seen it up close and in person.  When I was two years old, my older brother died.  When I was four years old, my younger brother died.  At 16 I had a man die in my arms and narrowly saved a man who was left to die with his neck slit from ear to ear at age 27.

I have lived many aspects of the human condition that others have not. I have suffered extreme poverty and disability and survived off of moldy bread donated from a church, yet I have been inducted into an association for Vatican Knights in a palace in Rome.  I served the military as a counterintelligence agent and cross-trained as an interrogator and Korean linguist where I was a badge and credentialed agent with a top-secret clearance. I further volunteered as a part of the FBI’s private/public partnership program, and presently hold a positive personnel security investigation background clearance with the I have Department of Homeland Security, but I have also been a grassroots activist and animal rights investigator for PETA and LCA.  I have been a private investigator for politicians of both parties, I have slept on sidewalks, yet I have been to the Grammys and won an Emmy.  I was a professional soldier, yet I live with a disability that sometimes requires the use of a wheelchair.  I was born in Oklahoma, have permanent residency in Mexico, and now live in Hollywood, where I served on the Screen Actors’ Guild Board of Directors and the SAG-AFTRA National Performers with Disabilities Committee. I am a member of both the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Emmys), and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (Grammys).

My more recent pursuits are to help heal the traumas of military service as the CEO of a non-profit that works with disabled veterans to help them create artistic careers in Hollywood, tutoring homeless children on Skid Row, and volunteering as a court-appointed special advocate to make recommendations to the court on behalf of children in foster care.

When people speak about their lives and conditions, I listen.  I have a wealth of history and experience to draw upon to help come up with creative solutions to our nation’s most pressing issues.

Transhumanism needs activists in office and scientists to advise them.  As a former professional activist, I can lead the way to create positive changes.

What do you consider to be the most important aspects of transhumanism and the kinds of impacts it should have upon the world?

DNA presently imprisons mankind.  We can conceive of much better forms than what evolution has granted us.  A unique aspect of human nature is that humans inherently seek to topple the oppressor that is DNA. In the past this was attempted through religion.  Transhumanism as a public policy and political philosophy will allow humans to grow beyond inherent limitations.  Far from just being vain, or physical, it begs the question, “If I can change my thoughts, the structure of my mind, every aspect of my body, and live for as long as I please, then what is the ‘I’ that drives these changes?” Human beings will create, and become, new life forms without biological restrictions and have to resolve longstanding metaphysical dilemmas.

DNA’s eternal, divine, plan is for biological lifeforms to compete, reproduce, and die.  Death is necessary for evolution to take place.  Mankind must make the disruption of that natural order a priority and transition beyond what is commonly thought of as “human”.  By doing so, no living creature must die, live can continue for perpetuity, and joy can prevail in whatever form one can imagine.

What are the areas of the U.S. Transhumanist Party Platform that you identify most strongly with?   

I think the most striking policy is the call for the abolition of property tax.  It is ridiculous to think that an elderly, disabled person living alone in a home that they have paid off should face homelessness because of high property taxes due to a perceived increase in value of the property.

What are, in your view, some of the major problems in contemporary American society? How can transhumanism aid in resolving those problems?

The entire system of economics and politics is at least 100 years, if not more, behind what society needs.

There is no excuse for homelessness, poverty, protected elite classes, difficulty in transportation and logistics, and the obscenely high cost of education, housing, and medical care.

We are stuck in a strange “economy” (in quotes because economy is only as real as religion), and it appears as though we have to use capitalism to change itself.  I believe that this can be done through utilizing the JOBS Act on a grassroots level.

Most people are unfamiliar with the JOBS Act.  It is a game-changer.  Anyone, at any income level, can create a business, sell shares, and get moving.  Similarly, anyone, at any income level, can buy shares of startups that they support.

This has already opened enormous opportunity for early adopters and has democratized the venture capital scene and has funded several game-changing technologies in
transportation, government, robotics, and security.

People need to start investing in businesses that affect them with the intent of losing money for the sake of a better future.  If a business has an impact on your life, you should have a say in how that business operates.  With no-fee, no-minimum-investment apps like Robin Hood, we can all purchase voting shares of the organizations that cause changes in our lives.  If we vote as a bloc, we can change the corporate governance of even the largest companies.  If we are willing to take a financial hit in order to make a long-term gain for humanity, then our votes are worth more than the money we may lose as shareholders when we vote for people and the future instead of a high quarterly ROI in order to see a gain in share value.

Technological advancements must start at a grass roots, skid-row level in order to build a bridge between where we are and where we all agree that we want to be.

Several examples of technology that would change the lives of working people are personal transportation devices and housing units that require little repair, and are easily repaired when necessary.  Such costs can easily decimate the finances of a working family overnight.  Modern vehicles can be built in such a way that failed parts can easily be removed and replaced without any mechanical knowledge.  Houses can be retrofit with panels allowing for easy access to electrical and plumbing components.  Simple things like these would allow working poor families to save thousands of dollars.

The elimination of the university-style education system is essential.  Most vocations should involve boards of experienced and knowledgeable individuals and simple, electronic diploma and certificate programs, with exceptions for more advanced occupations that require in-person training and testing.  There is no reason for a mental-health counsellor, for example, to be forced to pay for accredited courses in subjects entirely unrelated to their occupation from universities with massive staff, sports teams, building funds, etc.  They should be able to simply learn the material, prove that they can practice, and get to work.

Medical care and the legal system must be similarly reformed.  People cannot afford to access the courts, hospitals, or universities, so those systems must be replaced with more effective ones.

In your view, what aspects of contemporary American politics work well? What aspects of contemporary American politics are broken or malfunctioning?

The spirit of the Electoral College is noble, and must be retained, though perhaps modified somewhat.  Egalitarianism is an oppressive social disease that always leads to the oppression of minorities.  Fortunately, we have a Constitution to protect us from the tyranny of the majority, but there appear to be cracks forming in that dam.  The angry masses are in the streets, clobbering people whose hats they dislike, maiming, and even killing, others over a political message that they happen to disagree with.  This is the wrong direction.  Humanity is nobler than this.  You can, and must, do better, or you face dire consequences in the near future.

If elected President of the United States, what policy measures will you pursue?

For politics to work, it has to be at the local level.  I would create incentive for local governments to create and utilize app-based, real-time governing and fingerprint voting.

Voter ID laws and waiting in lines are archaic solutions to voting.  I can turn my $60 phone on with my fingerprint.  There is no reason that fingerprint voting units cannot be deployed to all neighborhoods to ensure that elderly, minority, and working voters have their voices heard.

App based governance is a clear solution to some major problems. A JOBS Act intermediary has already crowdfunded an app with mom-and-pop investors, which allows the average citizen to photograph and report civic and safety issues, as well as code violations in real time to the responsible authorities. This technology must be expanded upon. The real-time issues that you encounter and experience related to governance should be uploaded to people in your city council district, state district, and House and Senate district.  The most pressing issues brought by the most people should be made immediately available for elected officials to see and deal with.

When voting, much like with an end-user license agreement, a voter could click that they have read the proposal before voting on it.  In this way, many problems could start to clear themselves up without a heavy-handed, top-down government imposing itself on the people.  If housing costs are an issue, for example, any member of the public could “upvote” this in the app, connect with other users to put a proposal together to get this issue on the next ballot, and create change. Rapid, positive change is possible.

If elected President of the United States, what changes do you hope to achieve during your first term in office? 

My primary hope is to get people excited about the future by helping them to see that they can make it affordable and keep advancements in the hands of the people, and not elites who want to spend more than many people will ever make in a year to cryonically freeze their remains. Right now, many people are rightfully so concerned about where their food and housing is going to come from next month, that life extension into the next century doesn’t even merit a passing thought.

Most adults don’t really like being adults, and they say as much all over social media.  What does this tell children?  We must inspire the next generations to live well, and to pursue greatness, not cause them to fear adulthood by observing our toils and troubles.  We need an exciting future filled with joy and adventure that stimulates the next generation into wanting to participate, and in order to do that, housing, food, and income must first be addressed.  Other technological policies have to grow from that foundation.

If we perpetuate the current status quo, we are looking at a very bad future where the angry working poor have no way up or out, and have dozens of children raised hungry and in poverty as the elites sit on the hilltops with their life-extension pills and stem-cell therapies, not reproducing, and hoarding capital and resources.  That will not lead to a positive outcome.  I would very much like to avoid this looming revolution.

What are your thoughts on the U.S. Constitution and its relevance and implications in the transhuman era? Are transhumanism and the current U.S. Constitution compatible?

The Constitution is a beautiful document in its simplicity.  Liberty, equality, fraternity, and equal access are enshrined in this document, and much is left to the individual.  It does not micromanage our lives, but instead guides us in the right direction. The United States has one of the oldest continuous governments in the world for this reason.

It is very much compatible with a Transhumanism as a political philosophy, although some amendments will surely be necessary along the way.

A Transhumanist campaign for President is primarily an educational endeavor. What are the key insights about which you would like to educate the public during your campaign? How would you like to educate them?

The public needs to know that economies aren’t real.  Governments aren’t real.  Laws aren’t real.  These are social constructs designed to serve you, not to imprison you.  The power is in your hands to band together, envision a better way, and get your boots on the ground to manifest it right now.  Nobody will do that for you.

Don’t get mired down in what everyone else is doing.  If you have a vision, find others who share it, learn the process, create plans, follow through on those plans, learn from your mistakes, try again, and keep working together to make it manifest.  That’s the only way to get from where we are to where we all want to be.

It appears as though we all have a fairly common dream of what we want the future to be.  The technology is here.  Together we can turn our backs on an old world order and quickly build the new world we all dream of.

Given that a President would need to act on behalf of the interests of the entire population, with regard to members of the public who are either not transhumanists or may be implicit transhumanists (but may not be familiar with or use that term), what would make you an effective candidate for appealing to them and representing their interests?

When the waters rise, we are all elevated together.  Nobody is ever excluded from this table.  My policies and goals are designed to include your ideas and concerns to that we can all rise above and move beyond our restrictions, all the way up to and including the restrictions of aging and death.  Let’s start with what restricts you right now, ensure that your immediate needs are met, and move forward together into a future where none of us face the restrictions of aging, disease, and dying.
