Diluted Delusion – Post by Tom Ross

I’ve often said I’m not delusional enough to think I could win the Presidency, but after watching the debate between Trump and Biden, it’s clear that being delusional isn’t a disqualifier for becoming President. Seeing an energetic liar, who people actually believe, go up against a deteriorating old man who refuses to step aside was both frightening and eye-opening. It made me realize that maybe it’s time for me to embrace a bit of delusion and step up as a dark horse GenX candidate.
Our country desperately needs younger leadership. As the world’s first digital natives, Millennials and GenZ understand the complexities of modern life in ways the older generations simply cannot. The Boomers, who once drove tie-dyed VW buses in the ’60s and then traded them in for slick BMWs in the ’80s, cannot dictate a future they no longer understand.
We live in a scary time for America and humanity. Divide-and-conquer algorithms are poking at our fears and anger, satiating our confirmation biases, and keeping us trapped in a self-destructive loop. We cannot let this continue. We must break free from the cycle and be led by our youth. We need leaders who will listen to and facilitate the voices of younger generations.
It’s time for a change, and if it takes a bit of delusion to make it happen, then so be it. Our future depends on it.
